Lacye A. Brown -Biography

  • In Atlanta, GA, Lacye’s youth was tumultuous, with Art as her outlet. A fifth-grade teacher saw her writing potential, allowing her to finish assignments early and spend the rest of the day writing. Lacye completed her first novel that year.

While publicly showing a "normal" life, she privately moved between couches, dorms, and hotels with her mother. Lacye graduated, went to college, married, and had children—all in search of “normalcy.”

But her marriage was far from normal. Left with three young children and no support, Lacye realized no one would save her but herself. She rose from nothing, hustling through art gigs to corporate work. That period of uncertainty forged her resilience and sparked a spiritual awakening. She learned that normalcy was an illusion; what she sought was authenticity.

Now, Lacye infuses her creativity, life experiences, and esoteric knowledge into her art. A breath of creativity and humor in Atlanta’s eclectic art scene, she’s not just a screenwriter; she’s a storyteller. Through her work, she shines light on underrepresented cultures and taboo topics, fostering empathy and understanding. By becoming her authentic self, Lacye has no desire to be “normal” again.

  • Overcoming tribulations of poverty with a single mother in Atlanta, GA, Lacye uses art and writing as a way to articulate her story of perseverance, spiritualism, humor and gumption to the masses.

  • Lacye A. Brown, born and raised in Atlanta, GA, embraced her journey with resilience. Despite the challenges of constantly moving around Georgia with her mother, art became her sanctuary. It helped her navigate the ups and downs of living in the South with a single mother, sharpening her creativity and independence.

Recognized early as a gifted student, Lacye was encouraged to explore her artistic talents. In elementary school, her teacher, Mrs. Daniels, saw her potential and gave her the freedom to write her first novel, planting the seeds of a lifelong passion for storytelling.

While she moved frequently, Lacye’s experiences outside the classroom taught her invaluable lessons. By middle school, she had lived in over 15 different places, each one shaping her into someone capable of standing strong in the face of adversity. Despite living in rough circumstances, Lacye excelled in school and sports, driven by her desire to create her own version of “normalcy.”

After graduating with honors, Lacye attended Georgia State University and later married and had children. Yet, she soon realized that “normalcy” was not the path she was meant to follow. Her marriage unraveled, and she found herself facing one of her lowest moments—alone, with three young children, no job, and no support. But Lacye wasn’t waiting to be rescued. She took action, transforming her situation through sheer determination.

Within eight months, she transitioned from odd jobs to corporate success, regaining her footing while uncovering a deeper strength. Through her corporate role, Lacye traveled the world, expanding her horizons and immersing herself in diverse cultures and spiritual practices. Each new experience strengthened her resolve to seek authenticity, leading to profound spiritual growth.

During these travels, Lacye connected with shamans and healers, gaining deep insight into Munay-Ki rites, Ayahuasca, Reiki, Hoodoo, and more. This spiritual awakening inspired her to create LAB Shaman, a metaphysical business where she channels her esoteric knowledge and gifts to help others heal and thrive.

Leaving the corporate world behind, Lacye embraced her artistic side fully. Invited to a Halloween art show, she sculpted a Wizard—a piece that had long lived in her imagination. That sculpture became the foundation for Dr. Apples, a whimsical and dark character whose universe would grow into an award-winning fictional podcast, short films, and a TV pilot.

Through Dr. Apples and LAB Shaman, Lacye shares her creativity, life lessons, and spiritual wisdom with the world. With over 125 selections, placements, and awards for her storytelling and screenwriting, Lacye has embraced her role as an artist, healer, and storyteller.

She no longer seeks “normal”—authenticity is her path forward.

  • Lacye’s youth was tumultuous. Publicly, she depicted a “normal” life, but privately moved between couches and hotels with her mother. She attended college, married, and had children, all while chasing her version of “normalcy.” After divorcing and being left with nothing and three kids, Lacye transitioned from low-paying gigs to corporate work. However, normalcy was an illusion—she sought authenticity. Global travel introduced her to diverse cultures and spiritual practices. Leaving corporate behind, she created Dr. Apples and LAB Shaman, using creativity and perseverance to share her story. Now fully authentic, she has no desire to be “normal” again.

  • In Atlanta, GA, Lacye’s youth was turbulent, and Art became her healthy escape. A fifth-grade teacher recognized her potential, allowing Lacye to finish assignments early so she could spend the rest of the day writing. By year’s end, she completed her first novel.

While publicly portraying a “normal” life, Lacye’s reality was far from it—she moved between couches, dorm rooms, and hotels with her mother. Lacye graduated, went to college, married, and had children, all in pursuit of her own version of “normalcy.”

But her marriage was anything but normal. Divorced and left with three young children, Lacye knew no one would save her but herself. She went from nothing to art gigs, then corporate employment. That uncertain period gave rise to a newfound strength and spiritual awakening. She realized normalcy was an illusion; authenticity was what she truly desired.

Lacye’s journey introduced her to Shamanism, Munay-Ki, Ayahuasca, Reiki, Hoodoo, and more during her global travels. Leaving the corporate world behind, she founded LAB Shaman, LLC—a metaphysical shop where she channels her lessons, attunements, and spiritual gifts to help others on their spiritual growth journey. Now fully authentic, Lacye has no desire to ever be “normal” again.
